A Guide to using Social Media for Members
What is social media?
Social media allows people to interact online to enable them to create, share, and/or exchange information and ideas. The content is user generated and you decide what you want to see.
Why is The OR Society using it?
The Society is developing its presence on social media to raise awareness of both the Society and its activities, and of O.R. in general.
Why should I get involved?
It provides an opportunity to meet new people and learn new things, share your thoughts and raise your profile, or just to keep up to date with news and events.
I’m new to social media, where do I start?
Do you have friends or colleagues on social media, what are they using?
The easiest way to start is to create a profile on your chosen platform and start connecting with people and organisations that interest you. See what they are saying and how they are generating content.
