The outcome from this course is knowledge and skills to select appropriate analytical approaches for different problems and phases in the problem cycle, balancing the strengths and weakness of different methods used. This will aid delegates take on the responsibility of managing larger and more complex projects. Using practical examples throughout the day delegate will be able to practice selecting and defending analytical choices they make.

Taught by experienced practitioners, this course will help you select the right analytical tool for the problem and apply it appropriately to deliver robust analysis. It will help develop your professional judgement and prepare you to take on more challenging roles and projects.

The five main things the delegates will learn by attending the course:

  • Real world problems follow a cycle. This course will develop your ability to do appropriate analysis to inform all stages of the problem solving cycle
  • Evidence gathering and options generation, particularly when evidence is in short supply
  • Examples of cost benefit appraisal of options based on O.R. generated models
  • In-depth modelling of individual options using O.R. techniques e.g. simulation/system dynamics
  • Evaluation and monitoring of policies post-implementation
