Early Career Researchers Network continues to grow

The Early Career Researchers (ECR) Network has continued to grow in 2021, with more events planned for the future to help support this section of the OR community.

We are very pleased to announce that Dr Laura Boyle, (Queen’s University Belfast), has decided to join the ECR committee to help us plan and organise future events. Laura is a Lecturer in Data Analytics with research interests in simulation, queueing theory, and modelling health systems.

Laura said: "I heard about the ECR event via the OR Society mailing list and really enjoyed it. It was great to hear from the experts, but also good to have the breakout sessions and meet other ECRs. I found this event helpful as it is difficult to start a new job in lockdown, especially as we can't connect with new colleagues in the usual way. So I was delighted to join the committee and look forward to more ECR events.”

To help shape future ECR events and support, we are keen to find out more about the career progress to date and the future ambitions of those in the first five years of their OR career. If you fit into this bracket and haven’t already done so, please complete this short survey which will only take a few minutes of your time.

The results of this survey will enable us to be better advocates for the ECR community when speaking to business liaisons and funding bodies. It will also inform our education outreach and has already helped us establish an ECR Network and provided valuable insight into the OR community’s diversity work.
