The OR Society invests to transform training

The OR Society’s Training Working Group (TWG) and staff team are pleased to announce that our new training platform is now live online. The new platform is seamlessly integrated with our website and is designed to make all aspects of browsing, booking and attending training courses much easier and more convenient for members and non-members alike.

The training homepage www.theorsociety.com/training features all the upcoming courses in an easy-to-browse format, with all the essential information captured in one short paragraph per course. This will enable analysts to find what they’re looking for, whilst helping managers and decision-makers get a quick overview of the topics, prices and formats of our training. Full information can be found by clicking though, of course.

Find what you’re looking for

We have made it easier to find the right course for you, by narrowing your search by date, location and the following categories:

  • Analytics, data science, machine learning and AI
  • Civil Service / GORS
  • Classic OR techniques
  • Delivering Impact
  • Foundation courses
  • Problem structuring and system thinking

We have included a lot more information about our tutors, so you can discover the depth and breadth of their expertise before booking. We have also made it easier to find our popular foundation courses for those early in their career.

Individual course pages automatically list every date the course is running, so users do not need to check multiple pages in order to choose the most convenient date – it is all in front of them on one page. There is also a button on each course page that can be used to request new dates, should none of the existing dates work for user.

At home, in your office or at ours

One of major recent updates to our training delivery is the improvement in online delivery. During the pandemic, The OR Society moved its delegates from face-to-face meetings into virtual classroom environments. The new platform supports online delivery and are clearly marked as such, maintaining the (perhaps) unexpected benefits of the COVID-19 era, such as removing unnecessary commutes and other physical obstacles, and providing viable online delivery wherever possible.

The new platform also makes it easier to highlight that businesses, charities and other organisations can bring our tutors to them. The “Want to run this course in-house?” button on every course description page presents this option clearly but unobtrusively.

Easier purchasing

The new platform makes it easier to pay for multiple courses for multiple delegates. Transactions can be grouped, easing the administrative burden for companies and enterprises sending multiple attendees. Payments can be made more easily now, by card or via invoice for those with accounts.
