Several prominent figures working across statistics, mathematics, health data, artificial intelligence and supply chain intelligence have been recognised in The King’s Birthday Honours List 2026.
Professor Andrew David Morris CBE FRSE FMedSci, Director of Health Data Research UK and Vice-Principal at the University of Edinburgh, has received a knighthood for services to medical sciences, public health and patient care.
Professor Sheila Macdonald Bird OBE FMedSci FRSE has been appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to statistics. Professor Bird is widely recognised for her contribution to medical statistics and the use of data to inform public health research and policy.
Professor Ian David Abrahams, Professor at the University of Cambridge, has been appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to mathematical sciences.
Vishal Kumar Marria has also received a CBE for services to technology, economic crime prevention and the data and AI sector.
Professor Rachel Mary Hilliam, Head of the School of Mathematics and Statistics at The Open University, has been appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to data science.
Hiren Bhimjiyani, Programme Director for the Global Supply Chain Intelligence Programme at the Department for Business and Trade, has received an MBE for services to trade, data-driven supply chain intelligence and machine learning innovation.
The honours recognise the important contribution that mathematical sciences, statistics, Operational Research, data science and artificial intelligence make across healthcare, government, trade and industry.
