Ruth Davies Award
Ruth Davies was a leader in simulation modelling, celebrated for her innovative thinking and novel approach. Her most notable contribution was the development of the Patient Oriented Simulation Technique (POST), which uniquely allowed simulation objects to exist in multiple queues or activities simultaneously. This advancement gained international recognition and was widely applied across diverse disease areas, making a lasting impact on academic research and driving meaningful improvements in NHS healthcare delivery.
It is especially fitting that this award is named after Ruth. Over her long career, she supervised many MSc dissertations and was known for her generosity with time and encouragement. She was deeply supportive of her students, and this award stands as a testament to her commitment to nurturing the next generation.
This award is for academic dissertations that
do not involve an external client and hence are not eligible for the May Hicks
Award.
