Call for Editor in Chief: Health Systems

The OR Society invites interested parties to submit their CV for consideration to join the editorial team for the Society’s Health Systems journal (HS).

This journal promotes the idea that all aspects of health and healthcare delivery can be viewed from a systems perspective. The journal is currently co-edited jointly by Nelson King, Kathy Kotiadis, Samir Chatterjee and Daniel Gartner splitting the responsibilities equally between operational research and systems. There is a growing team of over twenty-five area editors in place.

Nelson King will be stepping down from his responsibilities at the end of 2022 and we’re seeking a suitable replacement to start in January 2023. We would be particularly interested to hear from candidates in the healthcare information technology and health informatics community.

The selected editor will be expected to have worked in the field of the journal’s interest, be able to embrace both the theoretical and practical aspects of IS/IT and how these technologies interconnect health and healthcare systems. The editor should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the journal’s aims and have constructive ideas on its future development to meet the challenges and needs of the subject and the Society.

The appointments are an initial period of five years, potentially renewable beyond that. There are plans for a transitional period. An honorarium is paid to the editor.

Articles are submitted to and managed through ScholarOne.

Please send your CV with a covering letter to Gavin Blackett, Executive Director, at [email protected]. The deadline for expressions of interest is 1 December 2022.

Diverse representation within our journal boards is important to ensure we include a range of opinions and viewpoints in our decision-making. We are keen to continue to develop diversity within the Health Systems journal and would welcome applications from all groups, particularly those from under-represented groups.
