Regional societies and Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

Regional societies organise regular meetings which are a good way to keep in touch with other OR people in your locality. The OR Society also supports around 20 Special Interest Groups. These groups are open to all OR Society members, free of charge.

Membership also gives you reduced prices our OR conferences. The OR Society's annual conference attracts delegates from all over the world. It's an excellent way to keep abreast of all the new ideas and to meet others working in the OR field. The 'New to OR' conference is held every other year giving young operational researchers a chance to meet, share ideas and present their work in a supportive, professional environment.

Job adverts

The society provides a list of OR job opportunities in the UK and this is available on the website. Adverts for these jobs are displayed in either Inside OR or this website. In addition, the society runs an annual careers open day at which students can learn about OR, find out about the educational opportunities provided by postgraduate courses in OR and learn about career opportunities in the subject.

Online Information

This website offers (and will soon offer) many facilities to enable members to find the information they need, share ideas and experiences, network and keep in touch with developments. Some highlights are:

  • Members' visible profiles, which can be searched to find members with particular experience or expertise.

Also on this website, all our publications are available online free to members, plus many other technical journals published by Taylor & Francis.
