President Elect Voting Page

The role of president is the most high-profile and arguably most impactful non-executive position within The OR Society. This person serves as the voice of the society at public and internal events, chairs board meetings, leads the strategy and business planning process, ensures clarity of strategic direction and cultivates relationships with key individuals, other learned societies, industry and government.

The selected candidate serves as president elect for one year and president for two, afterwards serving as a past president for a further year.

The affairs of The OR Society are managed by its board, with day-to-day activities delegated to staff under the company secretary and general manager. The president’s powers are therefore centred on chairing board and general council meetings and line-managing the company secretary and general manager. These are important duties, contributing to the effective governance and management of the society, and the role is extremely important to the health and success of the society.
