Abstract

This month’s front cover might be a familiar sight this time of the year – a student searching for munchies only to find the cupboard/fridge bare – but it’s not. It refers to the intriguing title of a lecture the Society supported at the recent British Science Festival. The title refers to the fact that it’s around 100 years between the fridge’s ‘debut’ in the appliance world and the first instance of a ‘smart’ fridge being hacked and used to send out spam email.
