Inside O.R. September 2013

Abstract

This month’s cover depicts a road blissfully free of traffic. It refers to a report which suggests that closing roads at peak flow times can actually reduce congestion. Geoff Royston turns his thoughts to how O.R. can remove its invisibility cloak and don, instead, a hi-viz jacket. There’s the final call for bookings for OR55 – but only if you’re very quick! The Society are running a series of workshops to help figure out what you, the members, want from us. We’ll also be running a Tweet Shop. You won’t be able to buy a quarter of cola cubes, but you will be able to come along to learn how to get tweeting. Get your booking in now! The analytics section features brief write-ups of the talks from June’s analytics seminar. We’ve decided to run anther one next year – what would you like to see featured? Did you know that when you read the electronic version of Inside OR all of the articles are bookmarked? Click the relevant icon to open the bookmarks and jump to the various articles at will!
