What-if? analysis for lifecycle asset management planning

Abstract

LAMP simulates the interaction between asset management regime, asset condition and through-life system performance to enable "what-if?" analysis of the whole asset management policy. It is conceived as a modular system, with generic components representing duty and deterioration, failure and repair, inspections and maintenance, renewal and redesign, etc. LAMP was initially developed for the Rail and Water sectors. This paper discusses our experience over the past year in adapting LAMP to the greater complexity of military systems.
