Building on a breakthrough in public policy design

Abstract

This one-page synopsis, with links to a multiplicity of other sources, outlines the opportunity for current generations to build on an important breakthrough in approach to the development of public policies that originated within the British OR community over fifty years ago. Since then, this decision-focused approach has gained an impressive level of global traction among public policy professionals, consultants and academics worldwide. Despite a track record of impact on important public policies in many countries, this story has not yet become prominent on the radar of many in today’s UK OR community. A global programme of interdisciplinary and inter-generational outreach is proposed in 2021, through which the full 21st century potential of this important breakthrough can be realised.
