This month’s cover story (a little bizarrely, I admit) appears in our In Brief news section. Swedish researchers claim that they can cut the energy used by industrial robots by up to 40% by making them operate slowly when this would have no impact on the schedule. Will this type of consideration of energy consumption become commonplace in our manufacturing simulations? Is it already?
