The major development in 2019 was the development of the Level 7 postgraduate Apprenticeship Standard in the occupation of “OR Specialist”. Apprenticeships at all levels, not just Level 7, enable employers to leverage their Apprenticeship Levy payments to provide employees with education and training.

A research team from Cardiff University’s School of Mathematics will use OR models to help Indonesia forecast demand for emergency healthcare and make critical decisions on the optimal types, capacities and geographical locations of vehicles for a sustainable emergency service.

Obituary: John Bartholdi III 1947 – 2019

John Bartholdi III, Manhattan Associates/Dabbiere Chair and professor in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) and co-executive director of the Georgia Tech Panama Logistics Innovation & Research Centre, died 30 October 2019.
