Research Committee Call For Members

The OR Society is inviting interested parties to submit their CVs for consideration to join the society’s Research Committee.

The OR Society’s Research Panel, now a committee, was established in 2016 with a goal to improve the health of OR research in the UK. In establishing the panel, the society recognised that there are significant opportunities for OR research in meeting major contemporary challenges in the industry, government and society and this committee has proactively been working towards sustaining a skilled, vibrant and valued OR research presence.

This work has included, though not exclusively, representation on the Big Mathematics Initiative implementation teams, advisory roles, and strategic advisory roles within major funding councils including EPSRC, strengthening links with key research funders, supporting the academic community in preparation for REF 2021 and introducing a series of Early Career Researcher workshops.

The committee comprises up to 20 nominated members who will typically serve for up to two terms of three years. We are now looking to appoint a number of new members: a mix of senior research academics and early career researchers with ambitions to influence research strategy:

should be prepared to act as a representative for the OR early researcher community.

These appointments will start in September 2020 and members typically serve for up to two terms of three years. The full terms and reference of the committee are available for download:

Membership of the OR Society is not a prerequisite of these roles, but it will be viewed favourably.
