AI and Machine Learning

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are hot topics within research and industry. AI refers to the development of computational artifacts to simulate intelligent behaviors and human abilities, and to explain cognition in computational terms. ML can be regarded as a sub-discipline of AI that builds computational methods to leverage data in order to improve performance on some set of tasks. Many state of the art AI methods include a component that is "data driven", i.e., they use data to solve an optimisation problem, with the loss function being the objective function and the model parameters being the decision variables. This stream seeks to bring together researchers and practitioners from the OR, AI, and ML communities, and to foster discussion on recent achievements and open problems in AI and ML theory, algorithms, and applications.
