Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) is an executive agency of the Ministry of Defence (MOD), delivering trusted and impartial advice and solutions for defence-related science and technology issues that impact on the security of the UK. Each year Dstl recruits approximately 80 graduates to sustain its development. Staff undertake a balanced programme of work and training to develop technical and non-technical skills. EURO (Association of European Operational Research Societies) established in 1975, continues to promote Operational Research internationally and support its member societies. EURO was the first regional grouping of IFORS (International Federation of Operational Research) and founded because it was considered that more could be done to improve communication and cooperation on a European level. EURO continues to adapt to address the needs of its members and a more recent initiative has been to support a EURO Plenary speaker at international meetings. Having supported nine eminent speakers at international events since 2015 it is a great honour for EURO to announce the tenth as Professor Erhan Erkut who will present his EURO Plenary at the 61st annual conference of the UK OR Society.
