On 12 March 2024, the Council for Mathematical Sciences and the ‘Protect Pure Maths’ project are putting on the Maths Summit, with the support The OR Society and four other learned mathematical societies. The intention is to bring together political leaders and experts from academia and industry to discuss how the mathematical sciences can contribute better to research, innovation and prosperity.

The Council for the Mathematical Sciences has taken an important step towards creating a National Academy for the Mathematical Sciences with the appointment of an Executive Committee and Executive Director to carry out the feasibility and set-up phase.

The OR Society fully endorses this statement on Russia’s Attack on Ukraine, which was co-signed by the Royal Society and other National Academies of the G7 States.
