From Observation to Method: the Example of Engineering Change Prediction

Abstract

Engineering design research has a strong tradition of moving from empirical studies of design practice to the development of tools and methods that benefit a community. This is often an iterative process, whereby multiple projects are required to reach a mature tool. This talk will use research on engineering change prediction to illustrate the iterative nature of descriptive and prescriptive design research.
