Using Simulation Approach to move from Manual to Real-Time Autonomous Scheduling for a Batch Heat Treatment Process

Abstract

These slides are from a presentation given to YHORG in July 2014. Steve is a Scientific Fellow in Tata Steel R&D based in Teesside in the UK. In this technology leadership role his ‘Specialist Subject’ focuses on integration of data and knowledge through the manufacturing chain to assure consistent product quality standards. Together with his team he has applied data mining and discrete event simulation approaches widely in the steel industry, to directly and indirectly influence design and control of manufacturing operations. Integrating data analytics to influence real-time operations on a through process basis is a current hot research topic.
