What We Do

We are the professional home of the OR and analytics community in the UK.

Originally founded as the OR Club in 1948, The Operational Research Society has grown in size and scope and now supports academics and practitioners in their careers through a host of activities and services. These include:

  • Providing an extensive training programme in OR and analytics that runs throughout the year
  • Publishing journals and magazines to disseminate the latest developments in OR and analytics
  • Networking by organising national, international and specialist conferences in the subject, and supporting our regional societies and special interest groups
  • Benchmarking career progression through chartered and registered scientist, certified analytics professional and OR Society accreditation programmes
  • Celebrating success with awards, medals and society honours
  • Helping members to find information through the searchable international abstracts in OR and share their work through the document repository
  • Raising the profile of OR through schools outreach, third sector pro bono work and advocacy to businesses and the wider public

If you would like to access these benefits, you can join The OR Society online today. You'll become part of a vibrant and active network of OR and analytics professionals across a range of industries and academia. You will also be eligible to vote on society matters, join the board and committees that lead the organisation and take advantage of member-only discounts at our events and conferences.
