Could you win the President's Medal?

The President’s Medal is one of The OR Society’s most prestigious awards, and we’re inviting entries for the competition. The President’s Medal is one of The OR Society’s most prestigious awards, and we’re inviting entries for the competition. It is awarded for the best practical application of OR submitted to the competition (a wide definition of OR is used).

Entries are welcomed from industry-based OR workers, consultants and academics. One of the main qualifications for entry is that the work has been implemented before submission.

If you’re thinking of giving a case study based paper at our annual conference, why not consider aiming a bit higher and going for the President’s Medal?

Criteria for judging includes:

• The level of demonstrable benefit

• The intellectual and novel content of the solution

• The likely longevity of the solution

• The excellence of the OR process

The finalists will present their work at our annual conference, OR63, on September 14-16. The judging panel will review the submitted material and listen to the presentations at the conference to make their final decision. Our judging panel consists of The OR Society President and senior practitioners.

The award winner will be announced at the conference and be presented with the medal at our Blackett Lecture.

To apply, candidates must make a submission using the form on our website. We require no more than two sides of A4 that describe the successful, real OR practice that forms the subject of the entry. This is to be accompanied by the names and contact details of two referees. One should be a member of The OR Society, the other a client. They will be asked to testify to the accuracy of your submission and the fact that the work described was done by the candidate(s).

To enter, please visit the webpage page now. Here you can also view previous winners and read their case studies. Alternatively, please share this accolade with those in the OR profession that you think could be suitable!
