Health Systems: Call for Editors (2 positions)

Gavin Blackett, Executive Director of The Society is inviting interested parties to submit their CVs for consideration to join the editorial team for the Society’s Health Systems journal.

Health Systems was founded in 2012 and publishes work that provides a systems perspective on the use of information technology and operational research in healthcare.

The journal is currently co-edited jointly by Paul Harper (Cardiff University, UK), Cynthia LeRouge (Florida International University, USA), Nelson King (Khalifa University, UAE) and Kathy Kotiadis (University of Kent, UK). There is a team of over twenty area editors in place.

Full information on the journal can be found at: https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/thss20/current

Two of the founding co-editors are coming to the end of their terms of service.

Cynthia LeRouge will be stepping down from her responsibilities in the coming months and we are seeking a suitable replacement immediately. We would be particularly interested to hear from candidates in the health information systems/health informatics community covering submissions in topics such as healthcare design science, consumer health informatics, and health IT human computer interaction.

Paul Harper will be stepping down at the end of this year and we are looking for a new editor to start January 2022. We would be particularly interested to hear from candidates in the OR community covering submissions in topics as stochastic modelling and simulation.

The selected editor for both positions will be expected to have worked in the relevant field, be able to embrace both the theoretical and practical aspects of health systems research, be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the journal’s aims, and have constructive ideas on its future development to meet the challenges and needs of the subject and the Society.

The appointments are an initial period of five years, potentially renewable beyond that. There are plans for a transitional period that includes coordination with the departing editors. An honorarium is paid to each editor.

Articles are submitted to and managed through ScholarOne.

Please send your CV with a covering letter to Gavin Blackett, Executive Director at [email protected] ensuring you state for which editorial position(s) you wish to be considered. The deadline for expressions of interest is 28 February 2021.
