Neurodiversity Celebration Week

21-27 March is Neurodiversity Celebration Week, which was founded in 2018 by Siena Castellon who (at the time) was at King’s College London Maths School – one of only two state specialist maths schools in the UK. See more about the background here.

Purpose: To help the world to understand, value and celebrate the talents of neurodiverse minds.

Mission: To change the narrative. Working together with schools, universities, and organisations, with the aim of:

  • Increasing acceptance and understanding
  • Providing education
  • Celebrating neurodiversity

Working together to create a world that understands it takes all kinds of different minds.

There are lots of free online events taking place this week, details can be found here.

Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) is a business-led forum functioning as an industry group for organisations to share industry good practice on ND recruitment, retention and empowerment. The vision is to foster a corporate environment where neurodivergent people are understood and form an invaluable part of the work culture.

Many organisations that recruit OR people are part of this forum.

EY launched its first Neurodiversity Centre of Excellence (NCoE) in the UK. The NCoE is designed to create a supportive working environment for individuals with cognitive differences; fuelling innovation in technology, bringing a new dimension of creativity, and driving greater diversity and inclusion in the UK workplace.

What can The OR Society do to be more inclusive of its neurodiverse members? We would welcome you input. Please contact us on [email protected]
